Sarah Yarkin

AS IF: You’re known for your work in Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Happy Death Day 2U; tell us how you first got interested in acting.

Sarah Yarkin: In second grade, I told my mom, “I’m gonna be an actor; I know I am,” I assumed it was the norm. I was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz in third grade, and I was like, yeah, so this is it. Let’s go!

Where did you study acting?

I went to UCLA. Growing up in the Bay Area, you kind of have this idea that LA sucks, so there was a part of my soul dying at UCLA, but that’s where the entertainment industry is. The theater program was strict, we weren’t allowed to work while in school, and I struggled with that since the whole point of being in LA was to work. I did a play in Los Feliz and reached out to managers hoping they would come. No one came, but I got a meeting and started auditioning, but I did not tell the program! I was lucky to book anything and meet people that believed in me.
