Collaborations have become a key part of Balenciaga’s brand DNA. There brand partners have including everyone from Crocs to online video game Fortnite. If there is one thing Balenciaga’s collaborations do, it’s get people talking.
That’s why when Balenciaga debuted their Adidas collaboration during the resort collection runway show at the New York Stock Exchange, crowds went wild. They nearly came close to breaking the internet, and this follows Adidas’ recent collaboration with another Kering-owned brand, Gucci.
According to date from Love the Sales, searches for “tracksuits” increased by 138 percent following the runway show. Balenciaga’s Adidas tracksuits took the Adidas logo and three stripe motif and gave it that oversized Balenciaga flair. The Adidas trefoil emblem remained in place, but instead of Adidas they said Balenciaga.
While collaboration announcements often follow a long wait period before customers can purchase the products, Balenciaga took a see-now-buy-now approach with the 33-piece collection becoming instantly available after the show on May 22. Price points for the collection range from $595 to $5900.
