Holiday marketing is looking a little different this season. Dolce&Gabbana has launched their first ever virtual boutique, and have also created a digital animation for the holiday season using compositing studio animations and a 3D printed DLP technology. Animated versions of designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana reveal the craftsmanship behind all of the special holiday creations.

Dolce&Gabbana takes us from the library shelves to the tailors workbenches as action figures who wander enthusiastically through the various vignettes, intent on creating the best gifts that magically come to life from sketches and enchanted books, ready to make gift receivers ecstatic.

The video of the Dolce&Gabbana digital holiday campaign was produced Happy Finish company, and is a stop motion project, obtained by compositing studio animations filmed by Happycentro in the Dolce&Gabbana headquarters in Milan. The mannequins, featuring Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, were modeled in 3D. The heads were made by using pictures of the designers, then 3D printed with DLP technology, which uses a photosensitive resin that polymerizes when exposed to UV rays. The neck joints have been specially engineered to allow micro-movements and printed with FDM technology. The resin heads and the glasses were then hand-painted with acrylic colors.

These aren’t your Saturday morning cartoons, this is a behind the scenes look at the artisan work that goes behind Dolce&Gabbana’s luxurious creations. Happy holidays to you and yours, from Domenico and Stefano.
