Dolce & Gabbana has a new foster child. No, not literally. The design duo of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana is continuing their commitment to promoting young talent by supporting British creator Matty Bovan, whom they feel is a perfect addition to the Dolce & Gabbana design universe.
Bovan has been a star on the rise since he graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martins in 2015. His 12-look graduate collection won him the L’Oréal Professionel Creative Award, followed by the LVMH Graduate Prize in 2015. Bovan also spent a year at Louis Vuitton working under the brand’s womenswear creative director Nicholas Ghesquiere.

Bovan already has a small customer base of loyal celebrity clientele including Bjork, Adwoa Aboah, and Georgia May Jagger. His prior brand collaborations include Coach, Stephen Jones, and Katie Hillier.
Bovan is currently engaged with Dolce & Gabbana’s design office to create a collection to debut at Milan Fashion Week in September 2022. Dolce & Gabbana is making the entire project possible through the supply of fabrics and materials to help the collection realize its catwalk debut.
“I am so excited to announce that I will be showing my next collection in Milan supported by Dolce & Gabbana,” Bovan said. “Craft and handiwork are at the heart of my work, something that myself and this iconic Maison have a great affinity with; the synergy upon meeting Domenico and Stefano recently was palpable. I’m still processing the idea that I am going to be exploring their archives and mixing their historic work with my new output for spring. I’m already feeling the turbo charge of this alliance!”
“The colors, proportions, and energy of Matty Bovan’s work reveal the tremendous research and creative process behind each piece,” Domenico and Stefano said. “We immediately had a special understanding with him; we are happy to be able to support Matty and the poetry of his vision.”
Dolce & Gabbana has been loving supporting the next generation of young fashion design talent. Previously, the designers supported Korean fashion designer Sohee Park, the woman behind the avant-garde label Miss Sohee. Sohee is another Central Saint Martins graduate, and Dolce & Gabbana are considered some of her biggest supporters.
