Gucci has collaborated with Melet Mercantile, a globally recognized local Montauk Outpost, for summer 2019. Melet Mercantile is a coveted “insiders” vintage shop, which will host a temporary three-week retail destination for Gucci. This collaboration celebrates Gucci and Melet Mercantile’s shared vision for bringing communities together and connecting the past with the present — across decades, cultures, and genres — melding common values and respective identities in a spirit of pure reciprocity. Gucci x Melet Mercantile brings a new experience to “The End of the World” that is made possible by Montauk fixture Bob Melet. 

Melet Mercantile is known to locals and tourists as a destination for rare vintage finds. The space features an array of bespoke oddities including art prints, vinyl records, and books carefully sourced from the corners of the world by founder Bob Melet himself.

As Gucci has found a temporary home in Montauk for the summer, they will also be helping to support the local community by partnering with businesses such as John’s Drive-In and Morty’s Oyster Stand to offer summer treats at the space on the weekends, as well as contributing to organizations such as A Walk on Water, Concerned Citizens of Montauk, and the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation. Gucci is excited to welcome the Montauk community and visitors to the East End to Gucci x Melet Mercantile.

Gucci x Melet Mercantile will intertwine the whimsical world of Gucci with Montauk’s laid-back surf culture. The space will feature a highly-curated selection of Gucci merchandise with a focus on the Towards Summer collection, as well as a range of vintage goods from Bob’s personal collection. Together these elements will create a sense of intrigue and curiosity that animates the unique space.
