Academy Award-nominated actor and multi-platinum recording artist Hailee Steinfeld has a resume exploding with accolades that belies her 26 years. The actor made her big-screen debut in the Coen brothers’ 2010 film True Grit, which earned her an Oscar nomination for “Best Supporting Actress.” Steinfeld went on to star in blockbuster films such as Pitch Perfect 2 and 3, Transformers, Bumblebee, and the coming-of-age film The Edge of Seventeen, which landed her two Critics’ Choice Award nominations and a Golden Globe nomination. Her silver screen performances include Marvel’s hit series Hawkeye for Disney+, and Apple TV+’s hit original show Dickinson which earned her a coveted 2020 Peabody Award. Not only did Steinfeld star in the series, but was an executive producer and wrote and performed the series’ original song, “Afterlife”. Given the dynamic and vibrant nature of her career, our quest to find an artist for our cover collaboration led us to seek someone capable of capturing her duende, that indescribable essence, and truly painting with it. We pondered the embodiment of energy through colors, contemplating the hues and shapes that would envelop Steinfeld. Could we give tangible form, shape, and expression to such energy? In our search, we sought an artist with a discerning eye, one who comprehends the essence of female energy and possesses the ability to bestow beauty upon their observations. The artist we sought was none other than Bil Donovan.
