Frogboy and Rocket are off to Adidas Del Mar. Artist Hebru Brantley, whose work has been known to audiences for over a decade, has brought his characters Frogboy and Rocket to Adidas for a one-of-a-kind sneaker collaboration. The characters, who were originally inspired by Brantley's desire to create protagonists that redefine what a hero looks like, are now emblazoned in miniature format on Adidas' sneakers.
Brantley's claim to fame is bringing together the worlds of anime and futurism for unique character designs. The Chicago-born and L.A.-based creative has dipped his toes beyond the world of art into fashion, hospitality, and entertainment for collaborations. His past collaborations have included Hublot, Lacoste, Bape, Cadillac, Bombay Sapphire, and Nascar.
For the collaboration, the Adidas Forum High an Adidas Forum Low feature Frogboy and Rocket emblazoned on their tongue in tones of Brantley's signature color palette of blue and green. Contrast lacing gives the sneakers a bit of flare. Other details on the sneakers include contrast lacing, hand-drawn near quarter trefoil branding and illustrated sock liners.
The shoes officially launch on July 14, and will be available through Adidas' app CONFIRMED, and selected Adidas locations globally. Adidas has been on a collaboration spree, with recent collaborations involving Kering luxury brands Gucci and Balenciaga. This marks a return to artist collaborations for the brand, but they found a man who is no stranger to the luxury industry.
