Sunita Mani is a performer who thrives in the in-between spaces. Born to Tamil parents in Tennessee, she grew up straddling two worlds—vegetarian South Indian traditions at home and the fried-chicken South outside her door. That duality became her training ground: part survival tactic, part performer’s instinct. Humor, dance, and a dash of absurdity became her tools for connection, and eventually, her passport to the screen.
From viral recognition in the cult music video Turn Down for What, to breakout turns in Mr. Robot, GLOW, and the Oscar-sweeping Everything Everywhere All at Once, Mani has carved a lane uniquely her own. She describes performance as a chance to “disappear” into a character—yet she brings undeniable dimensionality to every role, whether it’s sharp comedy, layered drama, or somewhere in between.
Now, with projects ranging from the romantic comedy A Nice Indian Boy to the dark Netflix crime drama His and Hers, Mani is expanding her reach while staying true to her voice. Witty, self-aware, and luminous, she refuses to flatten her experience into stereotype. Instead, she embraces the contradictions, reminding us that identity—like performance—is never one-dimensional.
