Dolce & Gabbana has finally learned the glamour and glory of Juergen Teller’s artistic eye. The famed fashion photographer has shot his first ever campaign for the Italian luxury brand. Shot in Sicily, the elevated allure of Dolce & Gabbana’s aesthetic contrasts with a utilitarian background, and even stars a donkey. The Hollywood sign in the background of the campaign videos gives the sensation that this campaign could be shot anywhere. Is this Sicily? Is this Los Angeles? Is this a movie set made to give the impression of Los Angeles?
It’s a new future for Dolce & Gabbana, one filled with animal prints, houndstooth, military buttons, and sequins. In the world of Dolce & Gabbana, the message is that anything is possible. The contrast of the brand’s fashions against the industrial background affirmed the idea that anything anywhere is possible. In the videos of the campaign, the frames are enriched by special sounds, conceived and composed by the photographer himself resorting to inspirations, ideas and suggestions derived from his own experience on the set. One conclusion can be drawn from this campaign, never forget the importance of a color pop and a good accessory.
