Suffice to say this spring/summer 21 show season was never going to be normal for the biannual fashion month we have all come to know - beginning in NYC and ending in Paris. Fortunately, watching the Louis Vuitton SS’21 show by Nicolas Ghesquiere during Paris Fashion Week was a wonderfully visual, musical, creative and sensory escape.
The collection had a touch of nostalgia of the ’80s I grew up with - giant wide belts, baggy paper-bag waist pants, uber-chic drop crotch trousers (my new current obsession!) serious shoulder pads, rib cage cropped jackets and oversized coats with sloping shoulders. The accessories, clever and futuristic. (I can only imagine all of the Instagram images being posted using the ‘greenscreen’ bags once they are available!) And the ankle boots that double as a comfy, down-filled slipper are perfect for our current stay-at-home life and beyond.
The beauty of this collection is that not only is it incredibly luxe and chic, but this collection is for everybody - no matter your gender, shape, religion, ethnicity or belief. It’s just that cool and forward thinking. It’s exactly what we need right now.
