Marc Jacobs has relaunched his 1993 Grunge Collection, originally created during his time at Perry Ellis. Ironically, this collection led to Marc Jacobs being fired from Perry Ells when the fashion critics tore the collections to pieces, but this was the moment credited with creating Grunge. Perhaps Mr. Jacobs was just a bit too ahead of his time, because oh how the grunge movement did happen in fashion. His career still went to stellar places between the success of his own line and his time as creative director of Louis Vuitton.

This capsule collection celebrates 25 years since the original spring 1993 “Grunge”, and this time Jacobs is introducing it under his eponymous label. “The ‘Grunge’ collection epitomized the first time in my professional career I was unwavering in my determination to see my vision come to life on the runway, without creative compromise,” Jacobs said.

26 key looks have been reissued in their entirety from head-to-toe, including ready-to-wear, jewelry, shoes and accessories all made in the original prints, fabrics, and embroideries.

In a turn of events, Perry Ellis congratulated Marc Jacobs on revisiting “the first of its kind collection that changed the direction of contemporary womenswear.”

A campaign shot by Juergen Teller and featuring a range of models including Gigi Hadid and Dree Hemingway will be appearing in December magazines and on select digital outlets.

“The ‘Grunge’ collection epitomized the first time in my professional career I was unwavering in my determination to see my vision come to life on the runway, without creative compromise.”
