The Moncler Genius Building project opened to a string of celebrations across seven cities such as London, Paris, Seoul, Tokyo, and New York in June. The global event marked the Italian luxury brand’s much anticipated partnership with eight design geniuses across the world.
Labeled ‘7 Moncler Fragment’, the first official capsule range was released in collaboration with Japanese cult designer and DJ Hiroshi Fujiwara.
The collection features an impressive mix of car coats, hoodies, varsity, and coach jackets inspired by Fujiwara’s own aesthetic of punk and grunge. Moncler’s iconic puffed-up silhouettes and signature patches were also an integral and discernible part of line up.
The partnership is first in a series of collaborations, which will see the storied brand step away from the traditional ‘one season one collection’ cycle and release a chain of drops instead.
“We have chosen designers that differ greatly from each other as we have always spoken to different generations,” says Remo Ruffini, Chairman and CEO of Moncler. “We constantly need to offer new experiences and new ideas. Moncler Genius is divided into several collections over the year. We have overhauled everything, by overcoming the very concept of seasons. Our approach is monthly, weekly, daily. This approach considerably reduces the time that elapses between collections’ presentation and when they actually arrive in stores.”
The other designers and creative talents part of the collaboration include Valentino Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, stylist Karl Templer, Sandro Mandrino, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Noir Kei Ninmiya, and Francesco Ragazzi.
The collection was originally unveiled during Milan Fashion Week in February 2018 and is now available to shop online at Moncler.com and boutiques worldwide.
