AKNVAS Fragmented Royalty

Words by Tomislav Šuljić

Christian Juul Nielsen unveiled his Fall/Winter 2025 collection for AKNVAS in New York City embracing a theme of "Fragmented Royalty." Drawing inspiration from Danish princesses Alexandra, Dagmar, and Thyna, the collection reimagines regal garments with a rebellious edge for the TikTok generation. Ball gowns, once symbols of constraint, were transformed into playful bubble hem skirts cinched with delicate bows, moving effortlessly for the modern woman. Faux mink, printed with lynx markings, added a fierce, untamed spirit, while other northern-inspired furs in earthy tones echoed the princess’s journey into the wild.

Sheer taffeta gowns whispered with an ethereal quality, tied with unexpected bows as if hastily fastened before a midnight escape. The collection played with texture and movement, capturing both freedom and grandeur in equal measure. Juul Nielsen’s background in couture, particularly working with John Galliano, was evident in the structured yet spontaneous draping of tulle and taffeta.

Denim also made an appearance in the form of ruffled, utility-inspired pieces, challenging traditional categories. Footwear was provided by Stuart Weitzman for women and Nike for men, adding to the collection's youthful, on-the-go aesthetic. A playful, rebellious reinvention of royalty, this collection struck a fresh, bold note for the fashion-forward.
