TOMMY HILFIGER

Words by Tatijana Shoan

On a warm and breezy Sunday afternoon during NYFW, fashion insiders, celebrities, and influencers gathered aboard the former MV John F. Kennedy Staten Island Ferry for Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2025 show. Among the glittering guests were fashion journalist royalty Suzy Menkes, popular culture legend Brooke Shields, K-pop idols Felix and Lee Know from Stray Kids, artist Ashley Longshore, model Winnie Harlow, and actors Damson Idris, Shay Mitchell, and Madelyn Cline. With champagne in hand and Hilfiger-branded popcorn, attendees settled into their first-row seats as there was no second-row seating for this carefully curated guest list where everyone had the opportunity to carefully consider the classic-chic preppy looks on the models as they sashayed past.

"We're revisiting the nautical and maritime inspirations that have defined our signature look since 1985," said Hilfiger, delivering a collection that reimagined his timeless, preppy aesthetic. The show was anchored by Breton and Ithaca stripes, regatta jackets from the archives, and utilitarian trousers crafted from sailcloth nylon and crinkled cotton. The preppy staples were given a fresh twist with leather varsity jackets, deck-ready chinos, pleated yacht shorts, and monogrammed robes for laid-back luxury. Club blazers adorned with TH iconography and hand-woven slippers completed the look.

The finale brought a local touch, with Staten Island Wu-Tang Clan legends Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon taking the runway to perform. Pumped-up guests mingled long after the show with a DJ set from Questlove. The total success of the collection and the evening proved that Tommy Hilfiger is an American designer who understands what makes the All-American look and feel endure.
