For her fall/winter 2020 collection, designer Pamella DeVos of Pamella Roland transported us to the legendary Palace of Versailles. The interiors, chandeliers, and architectures served as inspiration for key details in the collection, including a mirror reflective dress that look like broken glass was laid across it. The details of these dresses were so specific that some of them took couture level hours to construct, with many details done by hand.

This is set up to be a good decade for Pamella Roland as we enter the roaring ‘20s 2.0. Devos is best known for her statement making ball gowns and cocktail dresses and she also loves sequins. “We have been really listening to the customers, and the sequins and big gowns are what they want,” DeVos said. “Internationally, the girls are loving the big princess gowns and they want elaborate details. In the United States we try to offer something for everyone. We’ve been offering a lot more cocktail dresses, as our U.S. customers are showing a stronger preference for cocktail dresses over gowns for formal events.”

Jewel and metallic tones were the focus of the collection to channel the opulence found within Versaille’s guilded halls. Fabrics included a metallic speckled, gem-inspired jacquard, jacquard paired with multicolored paillette and feather-embroidered cuffs, dangling fringe, along with multi-color chandelier inspired crystals. “People are more different than ever, individualism is big,” DeVos said. “Our dresses are all very different, and they are for all ages, because we dress women across a whole spectrum. Something is always asking for something different, and we do our best to keep up with our customers’ demands.”

Although DeVos is focused on giving her women the ultimate evening gown or cocktail dress, her word of advice on completing your look is always have a great handbag and great shoes. Her silhouettes combine new shapes with her classic ones, including draped silhouettes, exaggerated sleeves, ball gowns, capes, and sleek column silhouettes. Get ready for the ball or cocktail hour, Pamella Roland’s got you covered for either.
