For decades, the little black dress has been a women’s wardrobe staple. It was a minimalist default look that could be dressed up or dressed down for whatever occasion, whether formal, casual, or an office-to-after-work look. While the power of the little black hasn’t waned, it’s found a competitor this year: the little white dress. 

The spring 2024 Fashion Month runways in September and October 2023 featured many white dresses. The trend was so prevalent that one had to wonder if the major fashion houses had entered into a secret agreement with dry cleaners globally to boost their profits. Of course, that is a conspiracy theory, but in all seriousness, white was one of the many colors of the season.
