Tanya Taylor and Pantone are two brands who believe in the psychological impact of color. Thus, the two have collaborated on a new Color Therapy capsule, and exclusive T-shirt capsule for both adults and children. The collection also comes with a charitable component. 20 percent of net sales from the collection will go toward a donation of reusable colorful face masks to New York City public schools facilitated by the Fund for Public Schools through its COVID-19 Response Effort. Masks can be donated independent of purchasing the collection at $5 per mask.

The capsule collection consists of three T-shirts designed for both adults and children, each in a single Pantone shade highlighting the related emotion as researched by the consumer color preference studies at the Pantone Color Institute. The three colors selected from the Pantone Fashion, Home, and Interiors palette including Pantone 15-2913 Lilac Chiffon, Pantone 18-3946 Baja Blue, and Pantone 16-5721 Marine Green. These colors were collectively chosen to invoke emotions that the two brands believe are especially important in lending strength during a challenging moment. The brands believe by wearing these three colors, the wearer will harness the emotion with each shade.

“With a likeminded passion for color, Pantone and Tanya Taylor share an understanding of the role color plays in unique self-expression and recognize how color can be used to encourage and influence our mood,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “As we look to infuse our world with positivity during these uncertain times, creating a partnership with Tanya Taylor that enabled us to emphasize the enjoyment color can bring to lives just seemed to make perfect sense.”

The collection was named after the Color Therapy painting classes started by Tanya Taylor in 2018. Tanya Taylor Color Therapy is about associating color with emotion and finding therapeutic solace in creating art with those colors. Taylor has led both in person and digital Color Therapy classes throughout the United States and Canada, with a focus on classes hosted in children’s hospitals. In December 2018, Tanya Taylor redesigned the exam room curtains in the pediatric wing of Memorial Sloan Kettering Center using Taylor’s original hand-painted prints in coordination with a Color Therapy painting class for the patients and their families.
