Actor Tati Gabrielle started turning heads in 2017 when she appeared in the TV series The 100. In the show, she portrayed the character Gaia, part of a group of people who survived the apocalypse on earth. Her portrayal of Gaia was so well-received by fans and critics that it landed her the role of Prudence Night in the popular Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Her performance as the cunning and sympathetic mean-girl sorceress earned her more critical acclaim and a legion of devoted fans. With a resume that also includes voicing cartoon characters in films like The Emoji Movie, to showing off her martial arts skills in Uncharted opposite Mark Wahlberg, Tati has proved she has both the looks and the skills to get noticed in an industry infamous for capricious tastes. In her latest project, You, the popular Netflix psychological crime drama, Tati brings depth and carefully crafted nuances to her character, a single mother, no-nonsense, librarian with a past.

During our photoshoot for this issue, Tati brought a level of enthusiasm and commitment I imagine she brings to all her work. From sharing her latest playlist that included obscure musical artists like Bakar, cracking jokes about mundane life issues, and performing for my camera with grace, agility, and authenticity, Tati is an actor that brings her A-Game. Days after our shoot I caught up with her over Zoom to chat about her singular sense of style, the role social media plays in her life, her rich cultural background, and why she wouldn’t change a thing about herself.
