Tiger grass, otherwise known as centella asiatica, has had many uses throughout the course of its popularity. In Myanmar, tiger grass is the base for many types of salads. In many parts of South Asia it is often accompanied by many vegetarian dishes including rice, curry, and dal. Tiger grass also has medicinal uses for various disorders and minor wounds, although its clinical efficacy has never been confirmed through medical research. However, it’s usage for beauty products has been confirmed in the last year and it’s proven very effective.
Tiger grass has started to find growing popularity in western culture, and the beauty industry was one of the first to take notice. The plant originally got its nickname because the story goes that tigers would roll around in it after battle in an effort to heal their wounds. It has been used to treat numerous dry skin conditions with its two greatest beauty benefits being skin hydration and anti-aging formulation.

It's not uncommon for the beauty industry to borrow from the Asian and Chinese markets. Korean skincare went from a trend in the West to an entire skin care philosophy that is sworn by. In 2019, CBD beauty was the trend of the moment. 2020 is tiger grass’ year.
Nowadays in the U.S., cosmetic and skincare consumers are very knowledgeable and concerned about what they use. Consumers do their research on the ingredients before shopping products to make sure they are safe, clean, and won’t lead to any potential health issues down the road. One of the first brands to bring tiger grass products to the U.S. was Dr. Jart+. The brand sells their Cicapair products exclusively at Sephora, with the global beauty company becoming a must-stop-shop for tiger grass beauty product consumers.
Tiger grass skincare products are suitable for almost any skincare type with different products meeting different needs. Tiger grass products are best for dry and damaged skin because of the soothing properties of the herb. Consumers who have rosacea and eczema have often said that tiger grass products are great for their skin. The anti-aging properties of tiger grass included added coverage and protection, which can aid with preventing damage from UV rays and other environmental factors that can cause aging.
