Eastpak has introduced the latest in their string of high-profile designer collaborations, this time with Italian streetwear brand County of Milan’s Marcelo Burlon. The collaboration fuses Marcelo Burlon’s new wave streetwear vision with Eastpak’s own breed of function-first aesthetics, the result is a capsule collection that is both retro and futuristic at the same time. Featuring special embroidered webbing and a colorful swirling, along with silkscreen print that evokes an alternate world, this collaboration is literally out of this world.

The collaboration was inspired by an alternate, artificial reality with the images that accompany the collaboration depicting a dark liquid like a pool of gasoline, which ignites into a colorful dream-like sequence populated by distorted Russian nesting dolls. The bodies and accessories, like elements of modular architecture, open, separate, and come back together. The idea was to have looking at it feel like a journey into the fifth dimension. Ultimately, everything turns back into the liquid from which it came. Meta much?

The featured products include the MB Padded Pak’r, a special edition reinterpretation of the classic Eastpak Padded Pak’R backpack, the MB Reader, a fusion of the Reader’s retro functionality with it’s own space-age aesthetic, and the MB Springer, a classic waist restyled for the collaboration.

No streetwear look is complete without a good backpack, so cheers to this collaboration.
