Leading sportswear brand Puma is celebrating 50 years of their popular Suede shoe by collaborating with visual artist, Bradley Theodore. Inspired by his own style of work, Theodore has reinterpreted Puma’s iconic silhouette by incorporating splashes of vivid colors such as red, pink, and blue. The shoes also come adorned with a tiny skull detail and Theodore's signature in gold.

“My inspiration for this collaboration came from the act of painting itself. When I’m painting in the streets, I’m wiping my hands off on my clothing in order to pick up my phone, or grab a new brush," said Theodre. "I started to have people comment on my paint strained clothes more organically and they wanted to know where to buy them, so I wanted to bring that element to the PUMA collaboration."

Known for his skull motifs and skeletal renditions of pop-culture icons, Theodore aims to make art more accessible to everyone and is responsible for a number of iconic murals in the city streets.

The colorful streetwear capsule line also includes a black T7 Track jacket, T7 track pants along with a tee. Each piece comes hand-painted and is finished off with an embroidered detail.

BRADLEY THEODORE

Based in New York City, Bradley Theodore is a multi-disciplinary artist whose iconoclastic approach to art can be found internationally, from 10 foot murals on the streets of New York, Tokyo, and Milan, to sold out solo exhibitions in London. The artist has become a staple in the art and fashion scene in New York City. Theodore utilizes imagery and colors that highlight the fleeting fame and omnipresent mortality that are often obscured in celebrity culture, which he makes accessible by exposing the inner structure of known icons. He’s painted the likes of Kate Moss, Frida Kahlo, and Cara Delavigne. Despite his large celebrity following, with named collectors including Alyssa Milano, Iris Apfel, Bryan Cranston, and Salma Hayek, Theodore strives to remain humble and focused on his top priority – painting.

“My inspiration for this collaboration came from the act of painting itself. When I’m painting in the streets, I’m wiping my hands off on my clothing in order to pick up my phone, or grab a new brush. I wanted to bring that element to the PUMA collaboration.”
