Rain, sleet, or snow, New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2019 goes on. February at Fashion Week is a reminder that fashion stops for no one and nothing, and the importance of dressing for the elements. However, this isn't all boots and furs. Always be sure to dress to impress, no matter the weather conditions. This season some very exciting trends were on display.

GOWNS! BIG BEAUTIFUL GOWNS!

(l-r) Badgley Mischka, Bibhu Mohapatra, J. Mendel, Pamella Roland

The grander the ball the bigger the gown. Statement making gowns will be arriving for fall/winter 2019, just in time for all those end of the year galas and Golden Globes and Oscars season. They might have to widen the red carpets in preparation for these voluminous gowns. The Disney Princess look will never die, darling.

NEON BRIGHT

(l-r) Christian Cowan, Laurence & Chico, Philipp Plein, Prabal Gurung

We're going highlighter bright for fall/winter 2019, because it's time we learn to embrace color during the colder months. Just because it's dark and dreary outside doesn't mean your wardrobe has to be. Let's bring some sunshine on these cloudy winter days with a good outfit.

MUCH MINIMALISM

(l-r) Boss, Calvin Luo, Chocheng, Oscar de la Renta

The understated made a statement this season as scaled down designs in neutral colors have come back to counteract the maximalist wave we've been seeing. For those who love wearing head-to-toe black, your moment to shine will return. And yes, you CAN wear white after Labor Day.

TONS OF TULLE

(l-r) Tadashi Shoji, Alessandro Trincone, Christian Siriano, Sandy Liang

Speaking of volume, Tulle is back in the biggest way. Layers on layers of glorious tulle will be surrounding us come fall/winter. Dressing up has been made great again.

GREEN WITH ENVY

(l-r) Collina Strada, Gabriela Hearst, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Marina Moscone

Money won't be the only green thing you want next fall/winter season. Green was a favorite among designers this season, appearing in every color from beautiful emerald green to a subtle hunter. Make everyone green with envy over your wardrobe.

LUSCIOUS LEATHERS

(l-r) Jonathan Cohen, Linder, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Veronica Beard

Brown leather has often been treated like the step-child when compared to black leather goods, but for fall/winter 2019 brown leather is having its moment. From coats to jumpsuits, it's a leather love affair going on here. If you ever wanted a brown leather trench coat, the time is on the horizon. Even faux leather will be trending, with Jonathan Cohen doing several faux leather pieces for his most recent collection.

SPARKLY SEQUINS

(l-r) Alice + Olivia, Cinq a Sept, Self-Portrait, The Blonds

Shine bright like a diamond in your sequins this fall/winter. Sparkles won't just be for New Year's this year, but an entire seasonal endeavor. Sequins are about to be a girl's best friend.

PRETTY IN PURPLE

(l-r) Christopher John Rogers, Cushnie, Elie Tahari, Kate Spade

Whoever said purple was the new black totally hit the nail on the head. Purple is the color of royalty, so dress yourself like a true queen. It's going to be the power color for fall/winter, so get ready to strut your stuff in your power pants suits and pumps.
