Saks Fifth Avenue has partnered with Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative for a capsule collection that includes designs from Christian Louboutin, Alice + Olivia, and Prabal Gurung. The collection is an homage to the LGBTQ community and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Inn Uprising which sparked the gay rights movement.
Other participating designers include Balmain, Christian Louboutin, Cinq á Sept, GHD, Jonathan Simkhai, Judith Lieber, Loeffler Randall, Monrow, Orlebar Brown, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Saks Fifth Avenue Private Label, Stella McCartney and 360 cashmere. The collection is heavy on the rainbow motifs, symbolizing the rainbow pride flag that’s been a symbol of the gay rights movement for decades.
The collection is unisex, and 30 percent of net proceeds from the capsule collection will be donated to SIGBI with a minimum $100,000 donation. Stores in New York, Miami, Beverly Hills, and San Francisco will see windows dedicated to the collection beginning in May as a lead up to Pride Month in June. Promotional materials will include a social media campaign with the hashtag #wherepridebegan and an online editorial featuring highlights from the history of the Stonewall Inn Uprising.
Products will be available both online and in-store beginning May 15. Celebrities and public figures participating include Alyson Cambridge, Amanda Lepore, Ames Beckerman, Celia Au, Christopher Makos, Daniel Franzese, Dewayne Perkins, Dionne Warwick, Emmanuel Xavier, Hennessy Carolina, Honey Davenport, Isaac Cole Powell, Jonathan Fernandez, Kate Bornstein, Kurt Kelly, Lea DeLaria, Leyna Bloom, Li Jun Li, Michael Musto, Michael Urie, Miz Cracker, Nico Tortorella, Stacy Lentz, Stephanie Gayle, Telly Leung, Tree Sequoia and HBC’s Out & About Group.
