Chanel’s artistic director Karl Lagerfeld is a proud member of musician Pharrell Williams fan club. Williams has worked with Lagerfeld several times in the past, appearing in his short film Reincarnation for Chanel in 2014, and also composing an original soundtrack entitled CC The World. Williams was also the face of the Métiers d’art collection Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 campaign, which was shot by Lagerfeld. He has also walked for the legendary fashion house for the Métiers d’art collection Paris Cosmopolite 2016/17 show that took place in the Ritz Paris, and was one of the face of Chanel’s Gabrielle bag campaign in 2017.

Williams crowning glory was when he designed a customized pair of sneakers for Chanel as part of the Chanel at Colette event.

Now, Chanel has announced they will be doing a full scale collaboration with the musician for the spring/summer 2019 season. While Chanel is eternally known for their trademark tweed, pearls, and interlocking CC buttons, it will be interesting to see what the quirky style icon will be bringing to the brand. Anything under Chanel’s banner will have Lagerfeld’s stamp of approval, and the two titans of style are sure to give us something the likes of Chanel hasn’t seen in its over century long history. So, what will Williams have in store for the ladies with this collection? We’ll just have to wait and see.
