It’s still all genius with Moncler. The outerwear label is continuing its explosion of creative energy with their Moncler Genius project, a new multi-faceted project where a variety of contributions coexist alongside one another, creating a mosaic of different fashion stories. The new 2 Moncler 1952 collection, part of the Genius project, is a modern take on Moncler’s unmistakable trademarks from their puffer jackets to the rooster logo.

The collection is an homage to the year that Moncler was established in a small village in the Haute Savoie mountains. Fast forward to 2018, where Moncler is considered one of the ultimate status symbols for fashion lovers, and has become a global brand with a universal appeal. They have come a long way from their days as an apparel maker for workers just trying to stay warm from the frigid mountain cold.

The unisex collection features the logo in giant-sized proportions, immediately attracting attention of puffer jackets in laqué and matte nylon in vitamin colors including orange, blue, a plethora of reds, intense purple and green. Other details include two tone textures, colorfully graphic mosaic patterns and Navaho motifs for both jackets and capes.

The collection is both function and fashion with outerwear, jumpers, and padded scarves. It’s chic for strutting around New York City in the dead of winter, and also fit for your winter skip trip to Aspen. Bold patches feature the names of iconic ski-resorts incuding Sankt Moritz, Aspen, Gstaad, Zermatt and Megève on t-shirts and sweatshirts. Embossed comic stripe appliqué is an ode to Eighties culture.

“We have chosen designers that differ greatly from each other as we have always spoken to different generations”, said Remo Ruffini, chairman and CEO of Moncler, who originally conceived this ground-breaking turning point for the brand. “We constantly need to offer new experiences and new ideas. Moncler Genius is divided into several collections over the year. We have overhauled everything, by overcoming the very concept of seasons. Our approach is monthly, weekly, daily. An approach which considerably reduces the time that elapses between the collections’ presentation and when they actually arrive in the stores.”

MONCLER

The Moncler name is an abbreviation of its origin, Monastier de Clermont, a village in the mountains near Grenoble, France. René Ramillon, an inspired entrepreneur who produced items for mountaineering and authored dozens of patents, created the company that would give rise to the renowned quilted jacket.

Initially, Moncler produced quilted sleeping bags, a single model of a lined cagoule, and tents with a telescopic structure and outside cover. It was these robust and functional tents in particular that met with the most positive response from the market—by most effectively addressing the new, widespread social phenomenon of outdoor holidays.
